Every day at the Novello Theatre, the cast of MAMMA MIA comes out on the stage in their dazzling costumes to performance the same spectacular show.

MAMMA MIA has been running in the West End for a long period of time, coming up to its 23rd birthday this year. That’s 2 decades that the show has been running for! According to Official London Theatre, it has ‘wowed’ it’s audiences in over 50 countries, touring around the globe.

This hit musical features many songs from the Swedish group ABBA. It has traveled from venue to venue to showcase its fabulous musicality, choreography and costumes.

The musical is about a daughter, mother and not forgetting, three possible dads who have all been invited to the wedding by the daughter without anyone knowing. Through the performance, you will see many events unfold which all lead to the ‘big day’.

There are 3 parts to this musical: Prologue (three months before the wedding), Act One (the day before the wedding), and Act 2 (the day of the wedding).

The performance lasts 2 hours 35 minutes, including a one interval of 15 minutes, which isn’t too long considering some performances.

The curtain is down, and people are slowly starting to gather into their seats, becoming more and more excited for the show to begin. The band starts to play the popular melody and you can hear a big ‘ooooo’ from the crowd.

The curtain rises, and the show begins.

First to set the scene is Emma Mullen, who plays one of the leading ladies ‘Sophie’. Mullen’s soft voice starts to sing the song “I had a dream”, preparing the audience for all the musical numbers to come. Mullen, as well as other cast members, are dressed in spring/summer clothing which is typical Mamma Mia style.

“It really is a feel-good musical with lots of singing and dancing. It’s not my usual type of musical to see, but I really enjoyed it. The cast and ending are what got me,” said Antonello Zappa, photographer/videographer.

Fancy seeing it yourself but don’t want to pay much?
